About The Journeyman

After successfully operating the Journeyman Restaurant in Berrima for many years, Tim Pratt and Deb Pearce had the opportunity to build upon their vision and create a new home for the Journeyman Restaurant in Bowral.

Comfortable lounges, a chic modern dining room, well stocked bar, environmentally controlled cellar, modern kitchen; the Journeyman Restaurant and Bar has a relaxed atmosphere and is a pleasure to visit.

Simon Thomsen, chief restaurant reviewer for the Sydney Morning Herald, said: "A passionate husband and wife team delivers fine food and great wines in a polished restaurant, making the 90-minute trip to the Southern Highlands a must." The Journeyman was awarded a Chef's Hat in the SMH 2010 Good Food Guide.

Tim is the husband and chef. The fine food is produced in three creative menus:

His A La Carte menu has twelve standard dishes with six vegetarian options. All eighteen are available as entrée size and ten are also available as main-size dishes.
His Degustation menu of seven courses has wines matched to each dish by the other half of the 'passionate husband and wife team'.
And his Lounge Bar menu provides tasty nibbles and tapas style dishes, for those wishing to enjoy something specially created to accompany a drink or two.
Friday and Saturday, Tim also produces a fixed price set menu lunch. Dishes may be new ones he is trying for the main menu, or may be based on something supplied in limited quantities by a providore.

Deb is the wife and sommelier - the only qualified sommelier in a Southern Highlands restaurant. Her cellar contains some remarkably rare wines for special occasions as well as wines for regular dining and a selection of the local product. In 2008 Deb's wine list was awarded the Restaurant & Catering Association's 'Best NSW Regional Wine List'.

The 'polished restaurant' was purpose-built, opening in Bowral in December 2008. It is warm, comfortable and inviting, with a separate bar for those who prefer a quiet drink Tim has produced a menu of bar food with a touch of magic
